I am going to be making dvd's from my camcorder using a dvd recorder. I am looking for SPEED (which I need) any ideas on a fast dvd recorder from camcorder to final dvd? Are they all the same as far as this goes? Thx!! Btw..please tell me what you think..10 minutes? 15 minutes?...using about 40 minutes of XP video on my camcorder.

  2. If I understand what you're asking, they are all the same. Recording 40 minutes of video from a camcorder to a standalone DVD recorder will take at least 40 minutes.

    What type of camcorder ?

If it is a mini-DV camcorder, or you are outputting from a different type of camera using the analogue outputs, then the transfer will be in real time. There is no way to make it faster.

Devices like the Canon DW-100 are designed for HDD or flash memory based cameras that allow for faster data copying. It is purpose built for this. DVD Recorders are not. They work in real time if they are encoding. Many work in real-time when re-encoding from their own HDDs to blanks DVDs as well.

The Sony VRD-MC10 is another piece of Sony garbage. These units are known for audio sync problems.
