  1. Guys,
After making at leat 100 DVD movies with Dvdshrink on my NEC2100AD dvd recorder and playing it on my Toshiba SD-3800 standalone player using Maxell 4x DVD +R almost all my movies were skipping or frezzing. Now I found your website I think there's so much info that is perfect. I just purchased the NEC ND3500A DVD Recorder and a Sony DVP-NS575P standalone player. Can someone please recommend which media will work better with those units,Which media are better - or + and which software is better to make copies?

    Thank YOu so Much Guys,,
    This website is AWESOME

  3. I have found that it is more expensive and difficult to get consistently good +R media as most of the good stuff (other than TY from Rima) comes marked up under another brand where the media code changes. As to any difference between + and - most users cannot really see any. The main difference has to do with DVD players reading problems with +.

My 3500 has very good scans with Prodisc S03, Ritek G05 and TY G02. Others have seen good results with MCC. For +RW, Ritek W11 is very good as well on both NEC and Liteon.
Still a few bugs in the system...

  4. I'll go with Prodisc S03 -R and TY -R too. Burned many hundreds of them without problems with a single disc in the 3500.

  7. I'm using Verbatim's Digital Movie DVD-R's with my NEC 3500 and haven't had any problems at all. I rip to my external hard drive with Decrypter, then Shrink, then burn using Nero.

Thanks. You need to get media codes from the disc using a program specifically designed to read it. CDSpeed and DVDinfo and a few other programs will do this. It is necessary precisly because TDK and many others change their codes all the time. Since yours are EU I can't really use that information but thanks for the response anyway.
