Hello,
Ok know we're fully into the digital age with dvd recording and dvr's.
Do you still use the analoge "TAPING"????? Or the correct term "Recording"????
Also - Technically there is no more "Rewinding" since it's digital (for cds/dvds of course). But who still uses the term????
Kevin
(I still mainly use my vcr since I have a weak antenna hooked up to the caputure card so I say "taping")

Always used "recording" ... for video or audio, analog or digital
Use "capture" only for computer capture card.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

I always used to use "taping" but now, thankfully, that term is fading.
My wife always says "taping" when referring to a recorder capture she has set on the timer. but she always gets a frustrated look on her face and corrects herself with "I mean ....recording"

Yea but both my VCR and my DVD Recorder have RECORD buttons....

8-track tape
reel-to-reel tape
Those days are far behind us now! :P
Oh, I say recording.

I've really never said taping. I've always said recording or recorded

But today we don't really say tape after those.
Back in the olden days we would say 8-track tape.
For example.....
If you were cruisin' around in your Dodge Superbee, with Holley
double-pumpers, Hooker headers, Crager SS double-slots,
Mickey Thompson trick slicks, Crane cams, Edolbrock high-rise,
and a Hurst Slapshot, you would say, "Did you bring any 8-track tapes.

It isn't really a cassette. Just a big wheel with tape
wrapped around it. Only travels in one direction too!
Makes a big mess if you accidently pull the tape out!
Yoda, sorry about ripping-off your thread!!! Hello.....

Hello,
No problem. It was actually pretty close to the subject matter. The whole "analog to digital" transition we're going throughOriginally Posted by goober

Same here. "Cassettes" were a different animal ...newer and all that. And nobody combined the terms. It was either "8-track" or "cassette"Originally Posted by Goober57

Let me remind you, young whelp, that I was installing an 8-track in my 1966 Olds F-85 to go cruising for pussy right about the time you were having your ass slapped by a doctorOriginally Posted by bazooka

Weren't cassettes called 4 Tracks when they first came out? I distinctly remember the term "4 Track" when I was a kid.
-
Easy, Bazooka. He was using the term "you" to refer to people in general ...as in "you just don't do that sort of thing". He wasn't referring to you presonally.Originally Posted by bazooka
Hech54 - Yep. Early on they had 4-tracks briefly. They had two simultaneous songs on the tape instead of the four you get with 8-track. They didn't last long before 8-tracks killed them off
