I say Taping when speaking to anyone who doesn't visit here, because they wouldn't understand if I called it anything else ...
My own preference is to say Recording, because IMO that covers any duplication jobs you might be doing in one hit.

I have never used the word "taping". Maybe when I was using tape on some boxes, but I can't recall if I ever have done so...
