  1. Hi,
just wanted to say that the new Philips 1109 firmware for the DVP6xx line enables playback for mpeg-4 videos with GMC (General Motion Comp.)

    QPel does not work, though.

    @NicePics
Where did you get the firmware?
    http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?ctn=DVP642/37&scy=&slg=ENG&tmplt=...grp=&cat=&sct=

    Then open software.

When I try the dl it opens the instruction pdf instead of dl the zip file.

    Thanks.

It's ok I figured it out.
When the pdf opens there is link at the top left of the document.
Tricky but I could have saved the trouble if I had bothered to read before asking for help.

  4. Why are there two of the same folders with the same contents in the upgrade zip file?!

  5. I installed v.1109 on my dvp642/17; and I encoded a video as I normally do with standard XVID parameters that work on my dvp642/17, but this time added GMC coding.

My video starts to play and then ejects with a "codec not supported" message.

Has anyone had success with v.1109 and GMC using XVID codec?...or do you somehow use GMC with the DIVX codec parameters?

    Thanks!

It looks like divx GMC is supported only but not xvid GMC.

  7. How do you add the GMC Support to the divx codec? Divx codec doesn't seem as easy to configure special options as xvid...

    Thanks!

To turn on GMC support for divx 5.1 you should first disable profile support. on the general Divx codec properties window push Select Profile Wizard button and in the next window check Disable Profile on. then push next button on the same window the 3rd window will open (step 2 of 2) and you will see GMC and QPEL option checks available there.
