need help Pinnacle Studio VS. TMpgEnc Dvd Author???

ok I posted a message couple days ago about having issues with pinnacle. I have about 7gb worth of mpg files that I wanted to create a fancy menu and burn to dvd, for some reason pinnacle like almost doubles the size of the mpg file when it goes to put it on dvd, the same thing happens with Nero's similar program I think it's video express or something, So i tried TmpgEnc dvd author and that program is GOOD as far as what ever size my mpg file it , that program leaves it at that size so I am able to put the 7gb worth on a DL disc.

OK now for the bad part, TmpgEnc dvd author sucks as far as being able to create any menus you are stuck with the defaults, Pinnacle is AWSOME for create any type of personalized menu.

Is there a program that will do what TmpgEnc dvd author does but allows you to create your own menus??? or Is there a way to convert Pinnacle menus into Tmpgenc dvd author??? Or any other ideas??? right now if I have a very big project i will have to use Tmpgenc dvd author and save the smaller stuff for Pinnacle so I can create personalized menus, or I will have to use Pinnacle and burn to a crap load of discs .

You can create a custom menu for TMPGEnc DVD Author by going to New theme... here:


Then you get presented with this:


Here you can select any number of different layouts. You are also free to change the background picture, the thumbnail picture, you name it, by getting out of this screen, and then going to Edit Menu.

I have used Pinnacle Studio 8 for a long time but have recently switched over to TDA. As jimmelinko is pointing out there are lots of options for custom menus. In my opinion custom menu creation in TDA is much better than it is in PS8.

You will also find that it is a much faster authoring program than PS8 if you are using compliant mpegs.

thanks i will try that, i think i have done it before, i just love pinnacle for the fact i have more control over what I can do with creating a menu, i think with TmpGenc dvd author even if I do custom i will not be able to move the text freely or delete the thumbnal of the mpg file i hate that , i like pinnacle because I can put like 20 links to scense on one page by placing a button then putting text next to the button to indicate what it is. anyway. thanks.

Can do. You can choose a theme without thumbnails (only text) if you wish.
