If you have a Pixma 3000 and above and bought it in the USA, you may want to check out this forum. As you might have known, the non-USA version of this printer can print on CDs, but not the USA version. Well, AlvinLee describes a method to overcome this limitation. If anyof you try this, could post back here with your results. I currently don't have any printable disks, but plan to get some as soon as the road thaws out.

I just bought a Pixma 5000 printer and I have been following that other thread with interest. It started out as a discussion on how to get the CD tray, software, and firmware if necessary, to defeat the Canon's disabling of CD/DVD printing in the US. Then Alvin Lee came up with a "simple" way of printing them without the need for any of that other stuff. A few people have tried it and say it works. Now I need to get myself some printable media so I can try it for myself.

Can you post back after you give it a try. I usually buy my ink from databazaar and get genuine Canon. They now carry generic ink, I wonder if any of you have had any experience with it.

Also, the BCI6 and BCI3 are listed as compatible, along with photo ink. I thought only the BCI6 YMC was used for this printer. Will the others work? Better?
Finnally, I wonder about the ink smearing. I know many people use the R200 to print to CD, but the Epson ink is designed not to smear. How is canon ink?
