    Hello,

You know a bonus I've loved with my new SBC Yahoo dsl has been the commercial free launchcast radio. They've got a ton of variety on there. Lots of old 80's favorites. And plenty that only get bit air time on the local pop station.

You know, I'm finding I might like checking out more of the metal bands from the 80's then I thought I ever would. I've always liked a lot of Van Halen and Bon Jovi songs. But I'm finding with the launchcast stations I'm bumping in to Aerosmith, def lepoard and a lot of other metal bands like that.

Now I love mainstream pop like Phil Collins, Bryan Adams, Roxette, etc. But I like hard rock to an extent. I don't like grunge or rap. But I'm finding out there's a whole sub metal segment that is a little "rougher" than mainstream pop but very good clean guitar riffs.

I'm listening to Meat Loafs "I'll do anything for love" from 93. I like it quite well. I love having access to this kind of music that wasn't my first love.

Anybody else have suggestions for "moderate metal" bands??? Metallica's pushing it on my scale of fun rock. If you have suggestions for more bands in this vein let me know.

Also, I like U2 a lot to clue you in on my music tastes.

    Thanks.

    ROCK ON!

I was thinking about you. No, not like that!!!

I subscribe to Rhapsody, and thought you might enjoy it now
that your connection is in the fast lane. 8)

I didn't know music was included in your DSL package.
    That's great!

I'm not familiar with Launchcast, but I love Rhapsody,
    and it's just $10 a month.

    Welcome to the club! :P

    Hello,

Goober - thanks. Rhapsody huh?? I'm not ready for another monthly subscription yet.

I do have Itunes so I can buy the songs I want.

    Hello,

Have you heard about high def radio??

I read an article about it in the news the other day.

It's a booster device attached to the normal radio transmitter. Costs very little for stations to upgrade. It's supposed to make fm cd quality. And it gives am "fm quality".

The downside??? Receivers are close to a $1000 right now. But it's supposed to have the ability to transmit song names and other text data along with the audio.

And it carries on the same frequency as the standard transmission so no need for new channels unlike hdtv.

Certain stations (like the 80's station) are free in MusicMatch. Plus, I also have a short list of some 80's streamimg stations that can be used in progs like Winamp.

Yes I"ve heard quite a bit about it. Its very promising with one problem. It will still be a commercial ridden armpit with FCC sharks circling looking for anyone having to much fun.

I got my XM and I likes it that way! :P

Richard Marx had some nice "harder" stuff in the 80's and 90's....stuff that the radio almost refused to play. He has had people like Steve Lukather and Tommy Lee on his records.
Not all of his songs were ballads....just the radio play ones.

Nothing wrong with a bit of Bon Jovi

If you want power guitars, I'd suggest Rammstein.

And we can't forget to mention Nirvana & Green Day.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Two windows will open when you click this link. This is the original
German version. The English version sucks.

The 3 day trial requires nothing more then an email address. So sign up again and again for now at least.

Rumor says Opie and Anthony will remain free on the the streaming service. Also streaming is cheaper if you already have XM radio.

    Hello,

Hech54 - yeah I've got one of Richard Marx earlier albums. Pretty nice guitar work on it.

Jimmalenko - I do like a lot of Bon Jovi and Van Halen. Sorry but I think Nirvana and Green Day are a little to close to grunge for my tastes.

    Hello,

You know when i listen to lauchcast when I'm home it's fun because I'm getting to hear the real versions of lot's of Weird Al songs for the first time!

Songs like gangstas paradise (amish paradise) and plenty of others. It's fun to when I hear songs like "sledgehammer" that I've only known from the short polka versions Weird Al does
