I am in the process of picking out components to build a new video editing pc.
Is this a good choice for a DVD burner?
$90 after rebates.

Its not made by Sony, get a Nec, Plextor or Pioneer from newegg.com

LiteOn now makes some Sony drives.

I purchased this burner, and every disc that I have burned (prodisc, taiyo, Piodata, matrix, maxell), burned perfectly, but all give me read errors in dvdinfo. I was just curious if anyone else had any problems with this burner?
I just know that I will be taking this back tomorrow. -
We got a 710A when they first came out and we havent had a problem with it, its now in my daughters pc and she burns stuff like theres not going to be a tomorrow. We use Verbatim's in all our writers and dont have any problems.

I've had excellent results with mine. I haven't run DVDinfo on the discs but may try it.
I've burned over a dozen types of media so far*and no coasters that were the burners fault.
* even been able to burn some CompUSA princo 2x -R that never worked on other drives.
