  1. HI.
I'm Loking one good, simple, easy to set up,capture card.
I have limited knowlidge about this subject:to make movies on computer.I have camcorder for 10 years, & transfered my 8mm to VHS tape, with the help om "Sima" Videoedit/2.
Well, I add voice, music to this tapes.I'm 60 years old now, but I would like to have a good card to transfer from my new Sony HI-8 camcorder to SVCD & VHS. I checked all the cards(mixed my mind!) & I'm more confuse than ever!
My priority is : first class qualaty. I can spend $500,
but no more. When I checking the board I read mixed result
on the same cards. More confusing for me...
    My CP: HP-Pavilon III(8575C)
    550MHz
    Hard Drive:20 GB Ultra DMA
    DVD:6 max speed
    CD-RW: HP CD Writer Plus.
Graphics:NVIDIA RIVA, TNT graphics with 8MB SDRAM
Well, after 6 months checking(please don't laugh) I hope some of you can help me to solve this matter. Maybe I have to upgrade my computer too? I bought my new Sony HI-8 only 6months ego. I learned the digital system is better....
Well, if I have to, I going to buy A Sony TRV 120. I heard I can play my old 8mm tapes with that too.
    Thank You in advance.
    George.

  2. I recommend you get a new PC with good fast processor (AMD Athlon 1.2Ghz or higher), decent ram....256Megs is good but RAM doesn't play too much of a critical part in performance...as far as video cards go I have no clue I just used WinTV FM, it does a pretty good job. You can hook it up to almost anything, Video Game Systems, VCRs, DVDs, TVs, Cam Corders. If you plan on watching these SVCDs on anything other than your Computer I recommend a SVCD Player, or a DVD Player that supports SVCD. I just got my sony player about a month ago, it doesn't support SVCD, but I am sure you can find one somewhere.

    Hope this helps somewhat.
