this must be a regional thing. TDK +- are 50 for $20 in NC. I can burn at 16x with the TDK 8x media.

Not sure about regional only as my BB flyer also has Sony +R & -R 4x 50packs for $19.99. I did not go out yet to purchase.

FUJI is a good brand of DVD-R discs IF the package says MADE IN JAPAN because in that case you are getting Taiyo Yuden DVD-R discs.
A few weeks ago BEST BUY had 50 packs of FUJI DVD-R (the MADE IN JAPAN type) for only $19.99
Maxell DVD-R discs that say MADE IN JAPAN are also very good and often on sale especially at places like Office Depot or Staples.
In fact this week (12/12/04 thru 12/18/04) Office Depot has 15-packs of Maxell DVD-R discs for just $5.97 per 15-pack. If these say MADE IN JAPAN then that is a good deal! That is about $.40 cents per disc. The current FUJI deal at BEST BUY is a 25-pack for $8.99 which is $0.36 cents per disc. However the Maxell DVD-R discs are more likely to say MADE IN JAPAN but it might be worth stopping by BEST BUY and checking out the FUJI packs to see if they say MADE IN JAPAN.

i went down to OFFICE DEPOT today and found MAXELL DVD-R media 15 packs now have no "MADE IN JAPAN" or "MADE IN TAIWAN" on the labels. there isn't anything on the label saying where the discs are manufactured at. The DVD-R is no longer that dull yellow but now it's a bright goldish/yellow color.

With no clear indication though of origin I would NOT buy it!
