    Hi,

I connect my DV camera to my pc through a firewire card.
    1. VIA chipset firewire card
    2. Capture software - Ulead VideoStudion 7 SE Basic
    3. Also try Window Movie Record.

Video playback is jerky and capture video is also jerk and it plays for less than 1 section.

    Thanks.

See if you get the same problem with WinDV.

Start the DV camera running first, then start capturing with WinDV.

    daamon,
Thanks for the reply. It used to play OK, but I have to reformat the hard disk due to corrupted hd. Now, it doesn't work anymore. I notice that 2 out of 3 slots in the firewire card are not working. Not sure if this is a firewire card problem.

    Hi pchan,

Have you tried re-installing the firewire card?

    How to:

    1. Un-install card using Device Manager. (That doesn't mean "take it out while the PC is on").
    2. Turn PC off.
    3. Note: Best to wear an anti-static strap for the next bit. Or be very careful...
    4. Remove card physically. Replace card - ensure it's seated correctly.
    5. Turn PC back on and the "new" card should be detected and drivers (re)installed.

See how that goes... Good luck.

    Hi daamon,

Yes. You are absolutely right. I did exactly per your instruction and it works great except for the 1st slot. I think that slot is dead for sure.

Thanks for resolving my several days of frustration.

    Hi pchan,

Glad you got it (nearly) working. It's not unknown for slots to die for some reason or other... Still, at least the'yr cheap to replace and you now know how to do a re-install in future.

    Glad to be of help.
