  1. Hello every1,. I just got a sony dvd-recorder to capture/brun my 8mm home movies...

Now here is the big question. I will be burning a full DVD-rw of the cassete without any editing right away. After that I want to be able to pop the DVD-rw in my computer, and edit the video by moving around certain clips in the movie to different places... Inserting various effects at chapter points when the video breaks (when the camera was shut off and then turned back on..), etc... Can any1 tell me the best program to do this? Is it Tmpgenc DVD Author, or Ulead DVD or something like that. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

P.S. By the way I obviously dont want a program if its going to cause audio sync issues...

    TDA is easy.
Ulead DVD Workshop 2 is more advanced, better quality.

  3. thanks TDA is easy but it doesnt do what I said I want to do. I can only cut files with it and it still gives me some sort of read error when I try to author. It doesnt let me cut a certain time in the movie and put it in at another place, or simply put it on a different DVD. Plus I cant add any video effects between any of the frames... Can any1 help me out please? Will I need to convert them to mpegs some how? I am really slumped.

I'm not sure how Sony Recorders operate but I usually preview the RW in my machine(Philips) and divide the title at appropriate places....thus making those breaks easier to find in computer software.
Don't rule out the recorders functions just because you plan to use a computer afterwards.
Simple trimming is easy....taking five minutes from HERE and putting it THERE in an authoring program like TDA is NOT something I would even dream of it being able to handle....at least easily.
Womble's MPEG-VCR is a nice basic editor I use all of the time....you might want to check it out.
