I can't really vote. I got a Sony F717 and a Canon 10D. They each have their own advantages/disadvantages but I love them both.

If I did I'd buy a canon, I've always liked their stuff. -
Still waiting on the 20MP cams.

Cannon Digital Elph S400. Small enough to fit in a pocket, great pictures, long battery life. It's compact enough to carry anywhere, so I use it a lot more than I would the bigger cameras.
-
Two Canons.
Elph S100(U.S. Model - Canon battery pack)
PowerShot A200(EU Model - 2AA batteries)
S100...outdoor shots in good natural light.
A200...better for strange light scenarios like indoor....also has adjustable ISO settings...very handy but requires THE BEST rechargeable batteries you can buy.
Next camera....Digital SLR. -
Canon S1 IS. I also have a Canon S30, but that's my work camera, so it's not technically mine.
-
I have a Canon PowerShot A60. It's very similar to the A75 (I believe) and offers a vast amount of control over your shots. I am not skilled enough to use them - I set it to the little green "AUTO" adjustment and let it deal with the technicalities.
It is a 2MP camera, but takes very nice, clear and detailed shots.
Cobra -
Nikon Coolpix 5400 which has recently been made redundant (except for macro photography) by my Nikon D70.
How I love that camera...
As for 20 MP cameras (as per someone up this thread), why? Unless you shoot slide-film or medium/large format photography modern digital SLRs are probably better than most of their non-film counterparts.

Minolta Z2. 4mp, 10x zoom.
Not bad. But no AF assist lamp. Too often I cannot lock the focus because of low ambient light.
@vitualis
A 20mp will allow you to do a nice 4x6 print of a very small portion of the image and this is really cool. You will also be able to print huge poster. -
Hello,
Wow I'm the first to vote SONY
I've got a three/four year old sony cybershot. It's a 2.1 megapixel with 3x optical zoom. It's very good. I'll probably replace it someday when I get around too it. But it's still excellent for 4x6 prints. I can go larger but I usually don't have a need to.

I've got an Olympus 5060. Very nice camera with lot's of advanced settings. It can shoot in a dark room without lights or use of a flash and still get a very usable picture. Of course the shutter speed would be 4 sec so it would have to be a still picture only. It can shoot excellent quality full resolutuion 4 fps in burst mode. Excellent for high action sports shots.
Lately I'm using Raw format a lot. If you only use the jpg format, you end up with an image that is 8 bits/pixel (24 bit) @ 72 dpi. If I use Raw, it will be 16 bits/pixel (48 bit) @ 240 dpi. The later is much beter for editing because it contains much more information.Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........ -
Next time I decide to be facetious, I should probably pick a larger number.

Some of you people are too wrapped up in the megapixels (MP) marketing myths. Once you surpass about 2.5MP, you can easily make prints that are 8x10 or so (max consumer size), and even somewhat larger.
All you need to worry about is a good glass (lens), a good number of controls (shutter, f/stop, etc, preferably in partial increments, not full ones), and then skill.
This has a "lowly" 2.74MP, but is a professional camera:

There are more important things to consider than megapixels, like the algorithm used for the raw data the CCD picks up. Optics play a larger role than people think too. Get a cheap camera with lots of megapixels, and you get more pixels filled with crap, that's allThink about it.
I have 7 or 8 16x20 (inch) poster-sized prints in frames on our walls at home. They were taken on our Egypt trip last winter.
I took them with my 2.1MP Canon and sent them off to Photoworks, or one other place online I can't remember the name. They use silver-halide paper to print. They also have algorithms they use in the enlarging process that simply interpolates on large prints.
The result: You ...would ...be ...amazed at how nice those large prints are. There is absolutely no pixelation or stair-stepping on edges. The prints look like they were taken with a medium format film camera. No lie. On prints that have four times the surface area of an 8x10. Canon's superb optics and excellent CCD algorithms are the best in the business, IMO.
To those ads boasting megapixels, and stating that "you need at least 4 megapizels to make 8x10 enlargements", or "3 megapixels to make good 4x6 or 5x7". Convenient that the people who tell you that happen to be selling just that size camera:P To them I say "stuff your megapixel claims where the sun don't shine ...sideways"
I'll match my little Canon against your 4MP point-and-shooter any day

I have the Sony F828 and love it. The photos look great when printed.
