    Does anyone know if there is a digital camera that will operate while connected to the PC?
    I currently have a Sony Cyber Shot, and whenver i plug in the usb cable the camera will not allow me to take pictures or record video.

    I do not think it is possible. Once you connect USB cable to the PC,
    camera will enter download mode and all other functions will be closed.

    A older one I had would do that, haven't checked the newest one. You didn't use the camera buttons though, it was initiated through the software.
