Possibly a dumb question. Does it matter what speed dvd+r is used for a dvd recorder ? I have been using 8X, but cant I use a lower speed that is cheaper ? Thanks

  2. Of course you can use slower DVD-R's since the recorder records at 1x, but you should still stick with a reputable manufacturer. Your recorder may not like el-cheapo DVD-R's so make sure you thoroughly test a cheaper brand before you buy in bulk.

Maybe someone here can recommend a low cost brand name for you, and where they purchased it.

I'm a dvd recording newbie, I was wondering the same thing, my TDK media says "8x compatable or higher" so when I bought it I saw that and thought my ILO dvd recorder might not work with it b/c it doesnt say whether it records slower. But I'm guessing it will. I bought them at circuit city, 8 bucks for a 25 pack, just so you know. Also staples is having a sale on their staples brand dvds, but I dont know how good of quality either are.

I purchased a 5pk of Maxell +RW and they record and playback fine in all my players and PC. But I've noticed that they are a bit noisy the first several minutes during playback on the LVW-5007.

I also purchased the TDK +Rs on sale at CC. They work great. Plus they are not noisy during the first several minutes of playback like the Maxell. They also play in all my other DVD players and PC.
