Restream can flag your mpeg-2 file as interlaced without re-encoding. Of course your file will still be progressive but it should be recognized (by Studio 9 and other software) as interlaced. But you have to demux your mpeg-2 file first.

    1. Demultiplex ( for example with MPEG Tools from TMPGEnc).
    2. Open .m2v stream with Restream.
    3. Uncheck Frametype progressive.
    4. Check top field first (may not be necessary).
    5. Click Write! and Restream will create a .0.m2v file.
    6. If Studio 9 can't open elementary streams you will have to remux the .0.m2v file and the audio stream with the MPEG Tools (Simple multiplex) from TMPGEnc.

I don't use Studio myself so I can't guarantee anything, but try it.
