I have been caputuring music videos with great success thanks to everything on this site. However, I have some music videos (mpg or mpeg) that I downloaded years ago and I am trying to convert them to DVD, but I can't get them to work.

I am opening them in virtual Dub and editing them. I then save them to an AVI. Normally I have been using direct stream for this, but it gives me an error when I try this, so I use the full processing mode. I then extract the WAV from the AVI I just saved.

Now I encode the video stream only using TMPGenc 3.0 Express. Once that is finished I am using TMPGenc DVD Author 1.6 to aurthor the DVD, but when I try to add the audio back DVD aurthor gives me an error message that says I am not using DVD compliant audio. I have tried re-saving the WAV file in Goldwave, and I still can not get it to work.

What do I need to do to change the audio to be DVD compliant. These are videos that are not played here in the USA, so this is the only copy I will probably ever get.

    Thanks,

    Vachoen

    Straight from Goldwave,

Wave PCM signed 16 bit, 44100 Hz, 1411 kbps, stereo

If this is the problem, how do I fix the audio?

    Thanks,

Just increase the sample rate to 48Khz and save. You be able to load this, although if tmpgenc DVD athor doesn't reencode the file it is going to take up a lot of space.

If size is an issue, you can load the MPG files into ffmpeggui, which can convert to AC3 or MP2 as well as upsample to 48KHz all in one go. Guide here.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Dont let ffmpeg upsample the 44khz wav to 48khz,it will cause the wav to go out of sync, use goldwave to save as 48khz before using ffmpeg.

Most likely.I wondered why some of my clips were going out of sync when they played perfectly before, the only ones that went out were the ones that were 44.1 khz and fed to ffmpeg, didnt happen with all the 44.1khz but enough to be a problem.

Since i`ve been using goldwave to resample any 44.1 to 48khz there`s been no out of sync files.

File size is not a problem. I already had goldwave and it worked great to re-sample it with no out of sync problems.

    thanks again
