  1. Hi, I have a rare dvd that I bought and I'm trying to back it up. It is a DVD-9 format and I'm trying to put it on 2 DVD-R's keeping all original menu's, sound and extra's. I have read the guide's with no understanding. I figured out how to put the DVD-9 onto 1 DVD-R with all original everything. I also can put the DVD-9 onto 2 DVD-R's without menu's. Can a DVD-9 be put onto 2 DVD-R's letting the menu still work (because some menu items would be on the second disc)? How can I do this?

Do you want the menus on your first disc to bring up something on the second disc!? Or do you want it to bring up a screen that says "please insert second disc"? This is possible.

It really depends on the movie. If there are multiple titles, you can put the menu on both discs and then have them refer to parts that are on each DVD and have place holder screens for stuff you took out.

@arnie22112000, do you want to split the movie or have the movie on one disc and the extras on another?

rather than bore you with a list of options there are a few ways, some easy and some are complicated. Some are free and some ain't and it all depends on exactly what you want and how the DVD is built up

  5. Idealy, I would like the menu on the first disc to say "please insert disc 2" or something like that. The movie is large and the extra's are small, so if the video would half to be split with: part 1 of movie on disc 1 and part 2 (and extras) on disc 2. The menu would have to correspond to that sequence. Maybe if I could just put the identical menus on both DVD's, the menus would just work with whatever is on which DVD.

  6. I used infoedit and this guide

The only thing I did different was to put the extras on both discs.
