any virtualdub or tmpgenc filter that i can use that can automatically and smartly adjust the contrast and/or brightness of an AVI or MPEG1 movie.
i've been doing manually the adjusting of contrast and/or brightness of my backup MPEG1 and AVI movies using the default filters of virtualdub or tmpgenc, but it's quite difficult to get the optimum contrast and/or brightness. any program or filter that can do this automatically and smartly?

TMPGEnc has great custom color filters (not the "basic" or "simple", but the advanced ones), but are not automatic. You're better off using your own eyes to judge anyway.
All you need is a little guidance. Upload a clip or still and somebody (probably me) can give some suggestions on what to nudge here and there. Clip is best.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)
