Before I burn my DVD-r,I have an idea to drop a simple text file into my project's file structure somewhere. It would contain info on the movie, compression, programs used, etc. The file could be viewed later by using Windows Explorer. This info would be permanently burned onto the disk and I wouldn't have to worry about keeping track of it elsewhere.Would this cause a problem with some dvd drives and/or standalone players?
How about putting it in the AUDIO_TS folder which is never used anyway. The player would see this folder as always but should not care about it's contents. Also,as a small amount of overburn past 4.37 gig seems to always be possible,I shouldn't have to worry about factoring in its miniscule size.I don't believe it is possible to burn a DVD video as a multisession disk so I am wondering if this strategy will work.

Hello,
You can put non video data on a dvd no problem. The professional ones do it all the time with screensavers, scripts, etc....
Just for safety sake put in the root directory... Don't put it in either folder....

If your Authoring software doesn't have this option for some reason, just put your file/folder in the same directory as your AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders. Then use IMGtool to create an ISO. After that, burn the ISO to disc. While it's burning, enjoy a nice cold beverage!
