If I rip a single chapter of a movie to my hard drive, the last few frames (between 1 to 10) do not have any audio (i.e., they are mute). So if I do this with two chapters and then try to join them with Womble MVW, I get a small "mute" (no audio) space between the two chapters.

If I rip more than one chapter into a single VOB file, some "magic" occurs which gets rid of the muted section between the chapters. However, if I look at the end of the VOB file, there is still some muted audio at the end.

I even tried demuxing the resulting mpg and looking at the lengths of the audio and video. The audio is always a few frames shorter than the video! This is true if I rip a single chapter or several chapters into 1 VOB file. The other strange thing is that VOB files which are longer (i.e., more chapters) don't seem to be missing any more audio frames than the short ones.

If anyone can explain this, I would really appreciate it. The reason I am asking is because Womble support was trying to get me to rip 1 VOB per chapter instead of 1 VOB for the entire movie, and ripping 1 VOB per chapter introduces a lot of "mute" audio frames.

Any comments or suggestions are also welcome.
