  1. Is there an app already existing where I can pop in a DVD and know instantly whether it's Macrovision-protected or not?

  3. i thought that's css protection. i though macrovision is for analog protection, i.e copying dvd to vhs

    I think decrypter will report the MV bits if it sees them. (maybe)
    ...and the article is slightly incorrect. False syncs do not confuse the AGC.
    Fasle syncs confuse the VCR head rotation sync (tearing). The AGC gets confused by some extra high video pulses they put in. (light/dark effect)
