  1. The unique way to obtain sound in the tv from an external source (computer, dvdplayer, etc) is using the rca stereo cable through the rca stereo input, ok having this in mind if you have a movie with ac3 audio (using a computer) and a sony tv with subwoofer and/or speakers integrated, if you choose in the ac3filter setup the configuration for 2.1 or 3.1 speakers, when you use the rca stereo cable in the stereo input of the tv, the sound is converted to stereo am i right? Using common sense the right thing to do would be using the 2.0 stereo configuration, but how does these integrated speakers works then, the tv does a internal crazy thing to use them or what?
My question is how does this integrated speakers works through the rca stereo cables and also in the coaxial cable signals?
    thanks

It would have helped more if you stated your tv model!

    1. Yes, the sound is converted to stereo.

    2. Yes, the tv does that "crazy thing". The tv receives sound through the stereos rcas and demuxes to the subwoofers and speakers.

    3. Through the coaxial: if it receives an 2.1 or 3.1 then it won't need any conversion. It's just passthroughed to the speakers sound (I've never seen this kind of transmission...)

The best thing is to read in the manufacturer specs about what that kind of sound system is supposed to function.

  3. Thanks for the answer
I just wanted to have a general idea of the process.
If you have curiosity the model is FD Trinitron Wega KV-21FA210 (the one that comes with the subwoofer only)
And the manual doesnt have much information, thats why I was asking.
