    Is it possible to mux a chapters file or to otherwise have chapters in your DivXvid files with this player? It's getting annoying to have to fast-forward an hour into a movie, especially if I hit a wrong button and Stop instead of Pause.
    (And while we're on the subject, how about multiple audio tracks? . . . )

    I could use a tutorial or pointers on muxing with AviMuxGUI. I've always used VirtualDub(mod)/Nandub. I tried muxing audio and video with AviMuxGUI, but my DVP-642 didn't even recognize the disc. I muxed the same two files with VirtualDubMod and it played fine.

    Anyway ... chapters?

  2. Only thing I could think of off hand is to chop the avi up before you burn it.

    Press the display key and enter a time to go to instead of fast forwarding if it is too long a time.

    On the subject of multiple audio tracks, yes it can play an avi with 2 audio tracks, I muxed them with Nandub and they worked fine on my player.

    Yes, I have tried the dual audio since originally posting this thread. Muxed in 5.1 track as well as the director commentary track in VDubMod. The player sure enough switches back and forth just like a regular DVD. Fantastic!

    But about your tip for jumping to a certain time in the movie ... it doesn't seem to work. I can press the 'display' button and the word "time" with "--:--:--" is displayed, but then if I try to enter numbers on the remote I get the ole "talk to the hand" icon. Am I doing something wrong?

  7. I believe the solution to being able to navigate through DivX disks is to burn them in certain format. Recently I burned a large collection of heterogeneous DivX files to cheap no-brand CD-Rs following instructions given on Philips web site (ISO Level2, Mode 1 or 2/XA, ISO9660, Finalized, single session, disk-at-once writing method). Actually, I ignored their suggestion to use slow speed (2x, 4x), and used 16x instead. At the end, all these disks were "navigateable" - I could rewind, fastforward, jump to any moment of time using "display" button. I used Nero to burn disks. Some of my old disks cannot be navigated - apparently, I used bad stettings while burning. My player is DVP642/37, fw 0531.

    The numbers are hr:minec
    If you put any number except zero to start you will get the hand because it's like hour 10+ which is invalid. To get to min 40 put in 00:40:00 (or 00:40). To get to 1 hour and six minutes enter 01:06:00 (or 01:06 left justified and ignore the rest) then press the play button.
    btw) the colons : are placeholders on the screen so don't look for them on the remote

    (edited once to fix a time mistype)

    @syam and gll99:

    I just noted your replies. Thanks muchly!

    I've been burning with Nero Xpress as plain data and haven't had any problems until very recently, and those problems being with rewritable CDs. Honestly, I think something may be wrong with the little burner drive built into my laptop.

    gll99 ... the time format advice makes sense . I will try it immediately.
