Hello guys. I have just got a dvd burner. An Empex 8x. I have been making svcds for like 3 years now... but the dvd thing is new to me. I am having a problem that i wonder if u could shed some light on. After i burn a disk and go to play it, it will be ok for the first like 6 chapters. After that... i get some kind of skipping problem were the image gets all blocky and the audio pops sumtimes. I have seen this in svcds as well. But i just don't know what it is. I have the lates " filmware " ( what ever that is ) for my burner. I got that through it's live update. Also the media that im using is Fujifilm dvd+r. Up to 8x, 4.7 gb, 120 min. This wierd picture grafing problem happens if i copy a dvd, or if i use tmpgnc to convert files to dvd compliant files. What ever i do... it still does this blocky thing with the image. Please help![]()

Try some other media.
Does it look okey on your computer? -
Yeah, it looks fine on the pc. Well... i guess it good. But the quality isn't as good as it should be. I used dvd shrink 3.1 for the first time to rip it as nothing else would let me copy my own movie ( dawn of the dead 2004 ). Now that i see the quality, it could be alot better than it is. But there are still no blocky mess-ups in the movie. So you think it is the dvdr's huh? How often is that a problem? Like i said though... i have had that problem with svds as well....... Is this not a common thing to have happen? I havent been able to make a single dvd yet without this happening.
Thanks! -
Are you burning at full speed (8X)? If you believe the media is good, I would certainly try burning at a slower speed, such as 2X or 4X. Whenever I see this on SVCD's too, I slow down the burn speed.
