I've been using TMPGEnc to encode my Half D1 files. I'm capturing from Hi8 analog tapes.

I resize and select the range of footage from VirtualdubMod then frameserve to TMPGEnc using LordSmurf's TMPGeng settings from his site. I've since been able to Frameserver to Procoder 2 by naming the file with a AVS extension.

Are their any settings for ProCoder I should use to be comparable to TMPGEnc? I did a test and the resulting files from both encoders were within 1Mb of each other in size. The Procoder is definetly a better picture with better color and crispness.

Next question, since I have to capture in short clips to keep audio in sync, I encode multiple files in TMPGEnc and merge them together when done. Since Procoder creates a seperate video and audio stream, how do I merge them together?

    Thanks!

ProCoder can create a program stream instead of elementary streams. Just change the Stream Type in the target parameters.

ProCoder can also stitch multiple source files together while encoding. Just check Stitch on the source screen and add all the files you want to join.

You answered my question about loading multiple AVI's in VDub! That would be easier then doing a merge afterwards. DVD-Lab likes the two different streams so I think I will stick with that.

    Thanks for the quick response!
