I think you've managed to make a booboo...
Premiere, and Elements are two different proggies...
Premiere is a video editor, and elements is some kind of photo manager. You know, albums, slideshows, contacts etc....

pijetro - Photoshop Elements is the cut down version of Photoshop, Premiere Elements is the cut down version of Premiere Pro. It was released a couple of weeks ago.

I Haven't seen any reviews yet, as it is too soon for most of the mags to publish something. It looks like a pretty capable low price editor and a good into to Premiere Pro. It depends how much has been crippled to get to the price point though.

Photoshop Elements was pretty crippled, especially when compared to already low-cost alternatives from Jasc (Paintshop Pro) and ACD Systems (ACDSee). So it's hard to think that Premiere Elements wouldn't be equally or MORE crippled (isn't Premiere more expensive than Photoshop to begin with?). Which would mean that using it would make me sad.

Today I got a copy of this for $60 at my kids' school fund raiser. Looks promising and it has to (should?) be better than the cheap movie editors that got bundled with my video card and DVD writer. Plus, all $60 went to my kids' school (the clincher for why I bought it). I'll let people know how I feel about it in about a week or two, after I give it a good workout....

I cannot find a download version demo, and nobody has sent me anything to trial, so no. If it works as good as I hope, it'll be an EXCELLENT option for those wanting low-cost NLE. I'd very likely throw my support behind it. I would like to see how it cooperates with 3rd-party plugins like Procoder Express.
