    .......GIF animation apps again.

I found out today, to my pleasant surprise, that Adobe Image Ready 7 handles AVI-to-Animated GIF perfectly. And the interface is the same as Photoshop, and in fact it came bundled with Photoshop 7.

Some examples (I used a digicam mini-movie I took in Egypt this last winter):

Original AVI that is 320x240x20fps. I converted this to GIF because AVIs won't play here, at least not for me:

Here's the same after resizing to 80pixels w x 60 pixels high, and deleting frames so the end and beginning merge smoothly:

    Damn this is fun!

    Very thoughtful of you

Here's one when I need to remind a noob to use the guides. I used Camstudio which takes anything that appears on your desktop and makes it into an AVI file. Then I pulled it into Image Ready, taking every fourth frame, cropped, and saved as an animated GIF:

The nice thing is that the file is only 48K, unlike the huge mini-movies above

As soon as I get requests for some distasteful ones. The regular ones are no fun

It came with Photoshop 7. I never paid much attention since at first glance it appeared to be a "dumbed down" Photoshop for webmasters.

Little did I realize how powerful it is. Sweet!

Framerates and res (one almost full screen and the other fairly small):
