    1. first dilema i have is.. .if a movie plays with sound and image.. why do other programs say no audio codec installed ? (ac3 is intalled)

    2. and now the real problem:
tryed everything... made a 2 min clip...and the material i used was divx and uncompressed. after i was done.. i exported it as WMF... but then i decided to change some scenes, i installed some other codecs and wanted to export again.. only this time all divx material is exported BLACK (with sound). So i told myself.. i`ll uninstall all codecs and install only the ones that worked... i`ve done that and now premiere 1.5 starts loading my project and stops at 90-95% no error no nothing.. ok i said.. lets reinstall windows.. did that..and same loading problem. Then i went to another PC.. and surprize surprize the project opened... everything as i remembered it... so it asks for the material.. i set the path and boom.. "PREMIERE ENCOUNTERED AN ERROR AND WILL CLOSE. WE WILL ALSO TRY TO SAVE YOU PROJECT" something like that...

ok.. so i thought another thing.. lets convert all my material to DV and see what happens... tryed it.. VirtualDub says no audio compressor installed.. then how the heck can i play the file?! with AUDIO!

if anyone would be so kind to read this and try to help i would greatly apreciate it! thanks

and the material i used was divx and uncompressed
This is a conflicting statement..DivX is a type of compression..
If your video is DivX compression, with and .AC3 codec (which i suspect), use Vdub to save the .AC3 out as a pure unadulterated .WAV, and save a separate .AVI without the audio. Therefore you should have a separate audio and video stream...

Import the Vid to Premiere, and import the newly uncompressed .WAV on the audio timeline..

    Good luck!!!![/b][/quote]

what if i told you.. that the footage i`m using is Xvid and the audio is ac3
The ac3 filter is installed.. i can play the file but premiere or virtualdub says there is no audio codec installed...

guess i`ll have to change windows again... and this time without sp2. as i hear it might be the problem!

but premiere or virtualdub says there is no audio codec installed...
    AUDIO:

Premiere doesn't handle .AC3 (shame, but oh well, it's an .AVI editor).
As far as Vdub is concerned, go to Video>Direct stream copy, then Audio>Full Processing Mode, then Audio>compression>No compression(16 bit stereo, no change), then File>Save Wav..
If you don't get a .WAV file out of it, then there's different issues..
Give VirtualDubMpeg a try if that fails..

    VIDEO:
The video is somewhat similair. Go to Audio>No Audio, then go to Video>Direct Stream Copy, then File>Save .AVI.

This is your silent video, and separate audio stream..Folllow my above post for the Premiere directions..

Or reformat if you enjoy that.
Read up on the VirtualDub guides. It's a great .AVI utility..
