  1. I want to autoplay my DVDs in Nero ShowTime instead of WMP. I know I have to uncheck the DVD option in WMP (tools -> options > file types). Then I should select the same option in ShowTime's file type association.

My question is; in Nero 6.3, where can I change/verify the file type association for ShowTime?

    Thank you.

Right click on the Showtime window and choose Configuration (or Ctrl+C for the keyboard shortcut.) Under General there are options to choose your default DVD drive, and also check boxes for "Auto play when application started", and "Play automatically upon inserting disk."

I don't see anywhere for changing other file type associations once you've installed the progam. I think you'll probably have to do this from "Windows Control Panel - Folder Options - File Types tab", changing the file type extensions associations that you want to play with Showtime manually for each item.

  3. The "Auto play when application started", and "Play automatically upon inserting disk." option is already checked. I also tried; right clicked my DVD drive -> autoplay tab -> DVD movie drop down menu - but I can only see 3 options:

    1. Play using WMP
    2. Open folder
    3. Take no action

I believe when installing Nero I deselected all the file type associations because back then I wanted everything in WMP.

    Please help, thank you.

You might have to reinstall Nero if the Autoplay is not showing up.

I also saw under the release notes for Nero, that for "Changes from Nero 6.3.0.0 to 6.3.0.2" there was an item that said:-

"Corrected DVD-Video autoplay handler in case no application is available to handle playback"

This might be your problem, in which case you might want to update your version.

  5. Julian,

I'm already using the latest version of Nero. Anyway, I know I can manually add/edit the file type associations in XP's folder options. I tried; folder options -> file types -> clicked on DVD (listed as NONE, due to unchecking the DVD file type in WMP options) -> 'change' button is grayed out so I clicked on the 'advanced' button -> 'new' button -> what action should I type in? e.g. open, play, run

I can handle it from there, thank you.

For the new action, type &play and then browse to the Showtime.exe file in the "Application used to perform action" box.
