When I try to change an MKV to AVI, my audio gets out of sync. How do I fix that? The MKV has MP3 audio. Here's what I did.

    1. Demux MP3 audio using AVI-Mux (could not demux in Vdub)
    2. Open MKV in Vdubmod
    3. Stream List, Disable all, Add MP3 to the top of list
    4. Yes for header alert thing
    5. Video, Direct Stream Copy
    6. Save as AVI

The result? The human voices come way before their mouths move. It's the same when I play it in Windows Media Player. Any help or method is much appreciated!

    4. will make it out of sync. it even says that.

try instead use virtualdub-mp3-freeze. open the avi(demultiplex the video from mkv) and add the mp3 and save as a new divx.

if that doesn't work try reconvert the mp3.
