    what's the best video compression in Virtualdubmod? im converting MPEG 1 to AVI...

    I personally go with totally uncompressed YUY2, or at least Huffy for interlaced material..

    Since i can only assume that your MPEG1 file isn't interlaced, i'd go with DivX. Great quality, and compression.

    I prefer Xvid since it's free and open source. Otherwise the same as Divx.

    that question really can't be answered without more info ..

    why are you converting it to avi ? for archive , for re-proccessing , for web, for smallest size , for best quality .. for what ?

    that would help say what the best choice would be ..
