I bought a Sima CT2.
It automatically detects whether the input is PAL or NTSC on the input and has a NTSC/PAL switch on the output.
Sounded good to me.....I thought it could actually "convert" from one format to another...after all, in the manual it actually says the following....
GoDVD! converts NTSC to PAL and PAL to NTSC video formats.
But it doesn't because you need a multisystem TV that is capable of both 50 and 60hz frame rates and who has that? Fact is, it doesn't convert the frame rate....so their claim it converts formats is UNTRUE.
So, how do I end up with an NTSC DVD?
I have a PAL VCR and a Panasonic DMR-E50 recorder.
Is there a "frame rate converter" I can put in inline with the CT2 output to give me 60hz?
Is there an easy software solution.....(ie going to DVD ram and converting on computer?)
THANKS for any assistance....I have quite a few PAL tapes that I'd like to archive.

This unit also has a TBC ... always a good idea -
Thanks.
If anyone has some other models to look at, I'd appreciate it....although this looks like the one to get.....problem is, 350 bucks is a bit rich for me right now.
My DMR-E50 has it's own TBC, so that is a plus.
The CT2 is really totally worthless for conversion.....they should rewrite their sales literature. -
I think you just read wrong. I get no inclination to think they ever mean "conversion". Not using those words in video means it does not convert.

Actually, 99% of the ads on Ebay say "converter" in the title and even the Sima manual says quote,
"GoDVD! converts NTSC to PAL and PAL to NTSC video formats".......end quote.
Whatever.....it's water under the bridge.
I've been looking into these converters.....does anyone have experience with the AED CDM660?.......only 150.00
Will these also ignore the later forms of macrovision? -
The way I like to record PAL VHS is to play it JVC then use my SAMSUNG WORLD WIDE VCR to change PAL TO NTSC. I think the video head in the JVC are better then the Samsung
