  1. I tried to order something from Pizzahut.com today but when I got to the checkout, the price seemed a little steep for a "discounted" purchase with a coupon.

I did exactly the same order WITHOUT the coupon... and guess what?.. same price!.

The first order (with the coupon) even displays a DISCOUNTED line that separates the reg. priced items.

Am I missing something here?, or are they actually ripping people off?

YOu'd have to click on the discounted link for the "tell me more" to get the full details. Besides you still have the tax and surcharges on online orders anyway. Probably better to just call the store directly.....

  4. The "tell me more" link is nothing. I've clicked on that before and it really is of no use.

The real problem is that the whole coupon thing is a scheme as you are being led to believe that you will get a discount when in reality you are not.

Yoda, even if you eat in the restaurant you still have to pay taxes. There are no surcharges for buying online (compared with ordering on the phone), in both you have to pay the delivery fee, but there is no internet surcharge.

Now that I look into it, the wording is very vague as they say "discounted" but they never really give you a percentage or an amount for your discount. But it is STILL a scam as there really is no discount at all in the end.

The pizza by itself is $14.98 + $1.05 tax

    The Wings $12.99 + $0.91 tax

Those are the regular prices, and with the coupon (it was supposed to be applied to the pizza, not the wings), with the coupon the price didn't change at all even though it displayed a "DISCOUNTED PRICE" line in the checkout.

  7. Yes, that is False Advertising.

When the buyer is lead to believe that a discount or savings is applied, when no such discount or savings actually exists, this is a violation of the truth in advertising law.

Went through a court case on this once, the above is pretty close to an exact quote on the law. Basically a competitor was poaching on our territory by advertising brand-new merchandise as "used".

What they will probably say is that there was a special price which was the same as the discounted price, meaning basically that everyone gets the discount.

Difficult to successfully prosecute. Part of the process I experienced was having a ton of manure delivered to our front lawn.

Pizza Hut would probably throw you a bunch more discount coupons if you complain.

Still looks more like some sort of programming error than a scam.
