  1. What is the best FREE tool to author/burn dvd's. On tight budget and the Mrs's doesn't appreciate this hobby. I would like to advance to menus and such for home movies as well as others. Would like to see some views of what the favorites are and why.

Do yourself a favor and spend a few bucks on TMPGEnc DVD author. I think it's about $70 for the full version. It's easy and good for beginners.

IMHO the BEST tool is DVD Architect 2.0 if the mrs. will let you shell out for it!

Best and free don't go together.
    Unfortunate, but a reality.

I tend to like DVD Workshop 2 and DVDit! PE

I would highly recommend GUI for DVD Author. Its free and lets you make as sophisticated or simplistic structure as you like. Give it a try and I'll gladly help you with any questions or problems that you may have.

Just use the Create Batch Button in GUI for DVD Author. Once you get everything the way that you want it then just run the mainbatch.bat file and it will create the dvd.

I have been using Ulead DVDWorkshop since version 1.1 and like it very much. Version 2.0 has major improvements. Check their site www.ulead.com
