Mel Brooks: Spaceballs Will Return
It's been 17 years since "Spaceballs" took aim at "Star Wars," but the Schwartz is still strong with writer/director Mel Brooks. Strong enough, in fact, that Brooks is penning a "Spaceballs" sequel.

Ain't It Cool News has a rundown on a few brief "Spaceballs" comments Brooks made to Playbill magazine: "... I'm writing myself back into the 'Spaceballs' sequel that I'm now writing, so you haven't seen the last of my face," Brooks says. "Why another 'Spaceballs'? It wouldn't feel right [to[ have anyone else play Yoghurt and the first one was the best experience I've had making a movie since 'Blazing Saddles.'"

Brooks says "Spaceballs 2" could arrive as early as next summer or as late as 2006. Whatever the date, we'll be watching for additional developments on our "Spaceballs" spotlight page. -- Mac Slocum

Edit: I just realized at some point I must have been struck stupid. I dont have spaceballs on DVD, just VHS. How can this be?

Easy how it happens. Its on of those films I've seen so many damned time that I just assumed I had the DVD. Happy gilmore was the same way, turns out I never owned it on DVD. But I do have an insanely worn out VHS of it.
