I am runnning a liteon 832s with updated firmware, the newest versions of DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter and Ritek G04 DVD's. But all the burns are coming out bad. I ran them through the verify in Decrypter but they came out good. They lock up at the start of a new chapter. I tried the DVD's on 2 different standalone players and the computer one. For example if a DVD locks up at the start of chapter 17 it locks up at that point on all the players. I am leaning towards a bad batch of DVD's. Is there anyway of checking the blank media? Or anything else I could check?
Thanks

probably a bad batch. sometimes you can see the irregularities by just visually looking at the dvdr. try a different type of dvdr.

At what speed did you burn? What firmware are you using? Do you use Kprobe? If so, can you post some resulting scans? (BTW, the RitekG04 that came with my 812s burned fine up until the edge, where there was a discoloration/flaw in the dye - the resulting disc played fine up until the end of the disc) Here is a Kprobe scan of that disc:
I would consider using patched firmware & possibly changing write strategy. More info on this here:

Has this combination of burner/firmware/software previously produced good burns? Have you added any new software since the last good burn?

I encountered a bad batch of Ritek's G04's. The dye was not uniform on the disc and there were several areas that looked smudged after the burn. This caused freezes and pixelation. This was the Ridata branded media that has the arrow on the top of the disc, with a light purple cover on the cake box. I purchased 2 50 pack cakes from Newegg and one box was OK and the other had about 40% visual defects after the burn. This was very disappointing especially since I've had excellent results with hundreds of G03's and unbranded G04's.

Well I ran some test last night. And it has to be a media issue. I got a Ritek form a friend and burned it. The Kprobe PI was never higher then 30. Then I ran one of my Ritek's through Kprobe and the PI was over 1200. Both were burned on my computer from the same ISO file with DVD Decrypter. I also did some reading through forums last night. It seems like lots of people are having problems with Ritek lately. But it also seems like there are problems with Prodisc right now too. So I'm not sure what media to get next.
