Hello,
Could it be that it doesn't play dual layer discs????? I remember years ago I was going to buy a cheap dvd player that was on sale but the sales clerk was telling everyone that they didn't play the dual layer discs. Check the labels or the disc themselves. They should say "dual layer" on them. That might be your problem if its a real cheap and old player. Other than I can't think of much, though check the companies website and maybe you could download and burn your own firmware upgrade (don't know but it could be an option).
KevinDonatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
is the player placed well ventilated?
some dvd players get quite hot during playback and when they get too hot the hardware/software gives up and gives errors like this.
So, if you have place a tv, vcr or other 'junk' on top of it, or if it's squeezed into a cupboard with the cats blanket on top, then try and get it out into fresh air and try again
