I was wondering why my ProDisc 4x DVDs were constantly failing to write properly in my DVR-107D. Well, I did a media check with DVD Identifier and...
The original ProDiscs I've been getting for several months:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD-R:ProdiscS03 ]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Disc Type : [DVD-R]
Manufacturer ID : [ProdiscS03 ]
Manufacturer Name : [Prodisc Technology Inc.]
Disc Application Code : [Unrestricted Use : Consumer Purpose]
Recording Speeds : [1x , 2x , 4x] (8x Cannot Be Detected)
Blank Disc Capacity : [2,298,496 Sectors = 4,489.3MB = 4.38GB (4.71GB)]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
[DVD Identifier - http://DVD.Identifier.CDfreaks.com]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
And now what I just got in my last batch:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD-R:MCC 01RG20 ]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Disc Type : [DVD-R]
Manufacturer ID : [MCC 01RG20 ]
Manufacturer Name : [Mitsubishi Chemical Corp.]
Disc Application Code : [Unrestricted Use : Consumer Purpose]
Recording Speeds : [1x , 2x , 4x] (8x Cannot Be Detected)
Blank Disc Capacity : [2,298,496 Sectors = 4,489.3MB = 4.38GB (4.71GB)]

Anyway, I hope I don't run into any exchange problems, as I have burned 30 toasters now, without even knowing about it. These DVDs ARE NOT compatible with Pioneer DVR-107D drives. This pisses me off. You will not notice any problems because you won't be notified of any errors.
So, do you think Shop4Tech tried to switch for cheaper media or did they not know about this.

I forgot add, has anyone noticed a particular firmware of Pioneer's DVR-107 series to exhibit problems.

wrong forum as this belongs in the media forum. also this has been discussed in a big prodisc thread there. seems many pioneer and lite-on drives dont like the MCC prodiscs. however my nec 2500a loves these discs. better burns than the old prodiscs03. i hope they continue to use MCC from now on. its great to get excellent media at the low prodisc prices.

I guess it is the wrong forum.
Your NEC may love the MCC's, but your NEC is not particularly made for Prodisc media--unless I've missed something where NEC says MCC media is recommended.
Pioneer explicitly recommends Prodisc DVD-R media--which is why I went ahead and purchased this media several months ago to see what would happen.
I've had 0 burns, and I've burned over 400 DVDs with my DVR-107D.
