JOINING MULTIPLE AVI FILES

Tried to join 4 AVI files into one large file and then convert to a standalone DVD. I used the program called ALL VIDEO JOINER 1.2, it seems to complete the process just fine ( color bar goes all the way across, and says FINISHED,etc.), but when I try and play the completed JOINED file, it only plays the first avi file and the rest of file is blank. These files are fine independently, and play just fine....just can't seem to join these together. Maybe some other program or approach?

Try Virtualdub. Open the first file, then add the others with 'append'.

In virtual DUB, I attempted to add the avi files and get this error message in VIRTUAL DUB:

DIFFERENT SAMPLING RATES, 36,00100 VS 15.00000

Anyway to cure this, seems odd that all the files play singly just fine, but the joining is the problem. Trying to make one continuous file in avi format of all of these avi's. APPRECIATE ANY AND ALL HELP!!!

To join AVIs they got to share the same properties. Only way to do that, is to reencode the AVIs that don't match. But : Why do you want to join them in the first place?

Or you can get a really good editor such as Media Studio Pro and dump anything on the timeline you want.

Another approach is not to join them at all. If your final destination is DVD, you could convert them separately to MPEG2 with an encoder, then put them into your authoring program (I use TMPGEnc DVD Author) and have them play sequentially. Haven't tried this particular method, but it should work. Author will just set them to play one after the other, seamlessly and adjust the rate as they play. It should accept different rates, though no guarantee.

Myself, I would encode them to the same format/rate to make things more compatible.

If each AVI is one episode, there's no reason to (even: you ought not to!) join them in their AVI state. Just encode each AVI to DVD spec mpg, then author them as separate titles.
If you join, then encode, all episodes will play as one movie, and I don't think that's what you want?

Why are you shouting?

If that does not work then try reencoding each one.
