i called tech support for sony and the dvd player i have doesnt play dvd +-r, what dvd player do you guys have? if possible can i have the brand and model#. i did some researching on a couple of players but all of them seem to have the same disclaimer which was
Note: Not all DVD-R discs are compatible with all DVD-R players. Contact the manufacturer for further compatibility information.
any recommendations on what dvd player to get that plays vcd, svcd, and dvd +-r/rw? and the dvd +-r's that definately work with it(brands such as ritek, memorex etc..) the only thing im worried about is buying a dvd player and a 100 pack spindle of dvd +-r's and having the dvd player not reading it.
btw these are the ones ive found Phillips DVP642, Sony DVP NS325, and Samsung DVD P241. they have mixed reviews and audio sync problems for vcd and svcds. thanks in advance!

Apex DVD players play - and + and they are rather cheap ($40 or so I think good price for my kids room). Also my Mintek Portable DVD player plays + and - but that was like $300.

hey lordsmurf, i went through the list of dvd players and checked off the ones i wanted the player to read, problem was everytime i found one that has a decent price there would be mixed reviews as to the dvd +-r being played. some say all theirs get played while some say none of these dvds played.
thats why im trying to get the same dvd player someone has so i know for sure which brands of blank dvds work and which dont before i gamble on it and purchase a 100pk and having the player not read it.
btw anyone has the AMW S99? some people said on a site that it has audio sync problems with vcds and some dvds. its cheap too is on sale for 30$ -
how much you wanna spend? if you want a cheap all around player get one from walmart. you need to take into consideration the people who posted a review on dvd players may not be accurate. because it would depend on how their dvds, vcds & scvds were authored and burned. i would suggest you pick up a decent but inexpensive dvd player and test out the burnt dvd media you have and let that decide for yourself if it's the right one for you. if the one you choose doesn't work for you then return it to the store. or better yet take some dvd media and vcd media with you to see if it will playback or not.
