Just bought my new Philips 642/37, checked to have latest firmware.
My friend lent me a divX CD, put it in but it doesn't work. My TV would say "Reading index...", then would go into the Data CD Menu with "Codec. not suppoered (QPEL)." on top.
What does this mean? Is there any setting I can adjust to play this divX?

You have to re-encode it. The player does not support Qpel or GMC. It's in the manual.
Do a search of the past couple of weeks, there are many posts discussing the dvp-642.
