They actually told me to my face that all the raises this year are small because they want to increase their profit margin to show investors that they are serious about making money....

....serious about making money? Shit, and all this time I thought we just liked pissing it all away on frivolous stuff like plastic office plants, golf carts for the bosses, and the 18 smoke breaks that the managers get each day!....

I had to go to the mens room and see if I still had that "Simp" stamp on my forehead.

Like I told my boss - guess I'll be burning the furniture at home in order to heat the house this winter. Who needs tables and chairs anyhow, they're so overrated!

not to turn this into a Monty Python skit, but you were lucky.

last raise - 2002 - 25 cents per hour.
2003 - no raise
2004 - no raise.

company had "no money to give raises" to effective, competent employees ... although it seemed to have enough money to hire fresh idiots, generally sharing a last name with the owner.

hopefully now that my division has been bought out by a company with deeper pockets, I might see a raise at the end of this year... maybe even, what are those things called again? a bone... throw a bone? no, that's not it... oh yeah! a bonus....

Well that's part of my point - your raise's went to those "fresh idiots"....

Mine went to the already rich people who own too much of our stock already and are bitching that they want more return for their investment. How many millions is enough??? The company I work for has been making money for 20 years (minus 1 quarter in 2002 where they lost - GASP! 10 million $ once)

I don't want to turn this into a bitch thread on money and raises - I feel your pain too. Most people do.. we all work for a living - well, maybe all except Cap!
