  1. I'm going to burn a few movies for a friend but he only has a PS2 to watch them on. Could someone suggest what media a PS2 reads the best? I have a 50 pck of Ritek DVD+R's 8x and 5 Newegg DVD-R's. Will either of them work? My burner is a NEC 3500a. Thanks

  2. I haven't tried either of those media's, but the thing to look for on the PS2 is when it was built (what version/model # it is). There is some hoopla about version 3 or under not playing dvdr no matter what.

I have played the "cheapest" dvd-r media on ps2's and the only thing I could say would be to burn at a slow speed (1x)

  4. Ps2's read + or - formats for flicks.

It depends on your version ps2 which is best. All should like -r media.

I had success with Princo and PS2 reads. But that was quite a while ago before Princo quality took a dump. I don't recommend Princo for anything other than a wobbly kitchen table :P

  10. thanks guys. I have no idea what version of PS2 he has and I'm sure if I called him and asked him to look he'd think I was speaking greek so I'll just give both media's a try.

  11. I know from moderating a PS2 forum for years that Princo & Ritek work. But TY is the best, after all, everyone says its pretty much the best media for any machine.

  12. I've got a V3 PS2 that will play any DVD-R Verbatim or Ritek G03/04 PS2 game backup without any problem but playback on DVD movies using either media is choppy.

  13. Well, its easier to pay $25, after rebate, at circuit city & buy a real dvd player As this is not much more than what a ps2 dvd remote would cost ya.

  14. Some old Ps2 will not read DVD+R Newer PS2 will read DVD-R and DVD-RW and DVD+R and DVD+RW. IF you have a ols PS2 burn DVD-R it would work try Maxell Pioneer TDK Fuji may be CompUSA brand might work. THe old Ps2 have weak lense.
