  1. I'm looking to burn a copyrighted cd using nero 6. I think one solution is to create an image file then burn it, however i don't know how to create an image file in nero.

And if there's more to it than just burning an iso image file id like to know.

  4. ive never done a 1 to 1 copy of a copy protected cd so im not sure as i always rip my cd's to mp3 to play on my pc, but have never had a problem ripping "copy protected 1's" i use cdex to do this but i guess u could use it to rip to .wav and burn and audio cd with those in nero, else you could try alcohol 120% to make an image, but ive never tried that on an audio cd

I normally use CloneCD to copy any COPY PROTECTED CD's. My most recent one failed to copy with CloneCD however....so I had to resort to using my Roxio Easy CD Creator to make .wav files first then re-burn.

Most copy protection schemes involve creating bad sectors and other nasty stuff, that can't be included in an image.
But to create an image with Nero, just select the "Image Drive" instead of your physical drive, and you'll end up with a Nero image (.nrg) file instead of your data being written to disc.

On 99% of my attempts with CloneCD - I got an exact duplicate of the CD....including the copy protection. Is that normal for CloneCD?

Try EAC - Exact Audio Copy. It's freeware. Best software for copying cd's. I don't know about the copy protected issue, but I have a feeling it wont be an issue.

Am I blind, or where do you find that Spider's talking about an audio CD?

Odds are it's an audio CD...plain and simple. That and the fact that it we are in the newbie section leads me to believe even more that it is an audio CD.
