Hello,
You know I've always disliked tv logos. More so now that a lot of them have gotten larger and more obvious (UPN for one). Last night I bumped into a FOX comedy and this HUGE preview tag popped up in the lower left corner. It must have been an eighth of the screen! I don't watch much on FOX but that would be REALLY annoying.
I taped The Perfect Storm on NBC Sunday night. After almost EVERY commercial break it would have a graphic in the lower left pop up and say "now playing Perfect Storm" - Duh! It would also show two or three "promo" ads for the next new shows on NBC. I mean that's what TV Guide is for! GIVE ME BACK MY SCREEN SPACE!![]()

Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

This will be a good time to bring out out that tape and use it on the TV
-
Hello,
Nah.. I threw that tape out. It was too old and the audio was really scratchy. I should have checked it out before I popped it in.

well actually I ment that electic tape they use on the home-porn video.... Its just a case of a joke gone really bad

Some of the animated ads now include sound effects. Fox's FX cable channel is one of the worst, they keep showing huge logos that take up 1/8 or more of the screen with sound effects that are loud enough to drown out the show I'm trying to watch.

My gripe is the local news, they spend half the time with the introduction, how there the best,m commercial for the news during the news, why not just news....yadda,yadda,yoda

Hello,
thecoalman - Or how about them spouting off about the next American Idol or The Apprentice! I mean it's the NEWS, not what cool show the network is airing! Arghh!
KevinDonatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
Oh no, don't even get me started. My personal pet peeve is when you're sitting there watching the season finale of your favorite show when they break away to give you the latest news. I DON'T WANT TO SEE OJ RUNNING FROM THE POLICE IN HIS BRONCO!!!

Or when your watching a football game and they cram ther logo down your throat evertime they switch between live and replay action.
Speaking of logos check out my stats since I changed my sig to my other website. So I guess I'm on both ends of the argumentI switched it on the 9th. Guess I should have built it before I switched.

I don't care about their shows and I want the football.
The same TV station as so annoying repeats the same ad every few minutes and also during a live football interrupts with a commercial every now and then during the football telecast. They are really so annoying.I am a computer and movie addict -

Although it wouldn't work for the "popup ads" or "splash ads" that come up on shows, I'm hoping there'll be something like the program LOGOAWAY built into TV's, to eliminate the network/channel ghost logo from the bottom right of the screen.
The other feature that would be easier to implement and would be very useful, is a variable vertical height adjustment accessible from the remote. That would be to eliminate the news crawl on CNN and other news stations (local news has even started using this horrible distraction). You could just push a button to stretch the picture off the bottom of the screen by some preset amount so the crawl is gone. Seems simple enough, I'm surprised that TV manufacturers have thought of it yet: "Crawlaway" or something like that!Ethernet (n): something used to catch the etherbunny -
It's even worse if you're actually paying for it, like with cable or dish.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore. -

And while we're on the subject of annoying tv practices how about the credits?? Or lack of credits??? I mean they're throwing tons of commercials DURING the credits. There so small now that you have to get a magnifying glass just to READ them. It's ridiculous.

The other trick is to start another show one second after the last one ends, so you don't have time to go get some food or use the can, or, coincidentally, change the channel. :P
There was an old thread about this same subject (on-screen logos) and SatStorm even posted some screen shots of TV from over there, and it's even worse than here. I hope it never gets that bad here, I'll just stop watching.Ethernet (n): something used to catch the etherbunny -
Hello,
Roundabout - Yep it's pretty annoying. Or how about all the networks timing there commercials EXACTLY! (I know it's not all the time but you can't really flip to find something else because most are on the same schedule!).
Also, remember how they'd create backgrounds for credits or even just show a snapshot of the show while they run? Now they just have them over those bright colors and run them at warp speed!
One other annoyance is when they start a minute or two BEFORE or AFTER the hour! Especially if your taping it. Usually it's not too bad but our local WB affiliate is really bad sometimes.

Actually, I've noticed this happens on my car radio - get sick of the ads, change to another station, same story. Ads are on all stations at the same time, it seems like. Accident? Don't think so. :P
If I had extra bucks, I'd get the Sirius or XM service, with many channels with no ads. Of course, it costs $$$ and I can't afford it right now. I just read that next year Sirius is going to start beaming TV programs directly to cars (starting with children's programs, naturally). With the proliferation of TV's in cars, I expect to see them banned from the front seat sometime, I've seen people driving on the freeway here while watching TV. I change lanes to get away before something happens.
I'm waiting for the Ad Channel to appear on cable, for people that like watching ads all day long. Actually, I like some of the "retromercials" they show on TV Land, but the newer ads lack the charm of some of the old ones: "It's not nice to fool Mother Nature"Ethernet (n): something used to catch the etherbunny -

How 'bout when you're watching and the commercials are of a louder volume than the show?? That always pees me off! But then I 'spose that's why they put mute buttons on the remotes?
