  1. hello.
    i have many many videos (avi/mpg) on my harddrive and i want to compile a 3-4 hour dvd-r out of these vids preferably using ulead dvd moviefactory 3, if not any other program will do. quality over time.
    i am relatively well versed in tmpgenc and virtualdub.

    Hi MIKEMAN,

    Encode all your AVIs to DVD compliant MPGs (there's various resolutions that are valid, depending on the source - see "What is DVD", top left, for specs).

    The MPGs you have must also all be DVD compliant.

    You can then use an authoring tool (I don't know ulead dvd moviefactory, so don't know if it does this) to either have each clip in it's own track, or clips arranged sequentially so that they're one after the other.

    Author to add menus if you wish and to produce the VOB files etc. ready for burning.

    NOTE: Some authoring tools require that the MPGs they're asked to work with are all of the same spec - i.e. you can't mix PAL with NTSC with D1 (720 x 480/576) with 1/2 D1 (352 x 480/576) with etc.

    Look into this as it may be a stumbling block for you...
