  1. I just put a Western Digital SATA Raptor HD in they claim it to be the fastest none SCSI in the world with a seek time of 4.6ms.

DOn't know about the timing but i just did a 2 bin svcd 1630mb in total in less than 15 minutes.

Anyone had good fast times like this ????

    Be interesting to find out.

  2. Thats zooming. May I ask how large the drive is and how much you paid? In the past the SCSI drives were alot more and generally smaller capacities. I have to use the slower audio encoding option. But I did my first movie with the default settings in around 40 minutes as I recall.. It was 4 bins 3.2 gigs. It had some audio pops so I use the slower method now. I can transfer 1.7 gigs from one HD to the other Both IBM 7200 rpm in around 4 minutes. But CPU Bus and other things will account for fast processing time. I have an older 1.6 mhz amd system running 98se. But SCSI will definitely same time when converting bins to mpegs. That pretty much runs at full HD speed.
