this is just me doin a last resort post here. doing ntsc xvid to pal dvd uising tmpgenc.
using this avisynth script:
I encoded part of the video to have a look how it flows, when I viewed the partly encoded video theres a maybe second freeze every few seconds when the camera pans across or zooms in anyone know how to get rid of this stutter? (I guess thats what u could call it)Code:avisource("C:\xvid movie.avi") SeparateFields() LanczosResize(720,576).Weave() AssumeFPS(25.000, false)

I had the same problem when doing a wedding video real bad stutter when the camera was panning around. it turned out that i had not set it to interlaced it was encoding proggresive.

Is your source xvid interlaced? (I doubt it, I have not seen an interlaced xvid yet, not even sure if it is supportedin xvid). If not, why "SeperateFields" and "Weave"
Just resize and change the frame rate. -
i looked through forum and found that script and thought to give it a try what would you recommend then bugster?? and no the source is not interlaced its a clean source all predone.

well I tried it with just the resize and assume framerate had a stutter when panned, tried it straight from xvid (video only) used telecine 24fps non-interlace source still stutter video when pans across or zooms and when muxed with audio audio out of sync.
I done audio and the telecine bit after reading this Guide in the forums, I'm so at a loss on what to do -
In TmpGenc, do not use the wizard, set everyting manually.
Load the PAL DVD template, then load the unlock template (unlock.mfc, found in the extras folder).
Click the settings button. Set the rate control mode to whatever you need (CQ is good). Make sure the framerate is 25fps and the encode mode is non-interlace. On the advanced tab, make sure Video source type is set to progressive. Check 'do not framerate conversion'. Encode a small test piece to ensure it is smooth.
The outpout video should show as being a littel shorter in time than the source video as it is being played slightly faster. Adjust the audeo to match. -
I done all that as sated in the guide I linked to I followed that never used the wizard everythin was done manually done the unlock but there is a very noticable stutter I'll do a sample to show what I mean and post it when uploaded.

Why do a PAL DVD at all? Most PAL equipment does NTSC very well - just encode and author as NTSC DVD, and chances are pretty good it'll work!
